Matt McIlwain
Matt McIlwain is a managing director at Madrona where he focuses on a broad range of software, applied AI and intelligent application companies. In addition to Smartsheet, he currently serves on several boards including Qumulo, Amperity, OctoML and Nautilus Bio (NAUT). He was on the boards of Isilon Systems (ISLN acquired by EMC), Apptio (acquired by Vista Equity Partners), Farecast (acquired by Microsoft), Turi/Dato (acquired by Apple), World Wide Packets (acquired by Ciena), Placed (acquired by Snap), Extrahop (acquired by Bain Capital/Crosspoint), and XNOR (acquired by Apple). He also is a member of the Fred Hutch Cancer Center Board of Advisors and on the board of the Washington Policy Center.
Before joining Madrona in 2000, Matt was vice president of business process for the Genuine Parts Company (NYSE:GPC). He was previously at McKinsey & Company, concentrating on strategy and marketing in the technology and financial service industries, and worked in investment banking at CSFB. Matt is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
